In the south west of Sardinia, in an area characterized by the continuous presence of the volcanic massif of Mount Arcentu, an exciting hiking tour that will make you know the wild landscapes of the Costa Verde, the remains of past civilizations mining, culture, culinary traditions and life about this interesting corner of Sardinia.

DAY 1
Independent arrival in Cagliari in the late afternoon or evening.
Meeting with our staff and transfer near Arbus.
Accommodation at the hotel, briefing, supper and free time.

DAY 2
This easy first circuit crosses gently rolling countryside, the mountainous granite formations giving way to smooth green hills towards the sea. You gain a good overview of what’s to come in the following days, as you wander past abandoned mine buildings accompanied by impressive views that include the golden sand dunes of the Costa Verde and the distinctive peak of Mount Arcuentu. (11.5km, 3hrs)

DAY 3
You follow old miners' trails past abandoned mine buildings and through lush vegetation to reach your next base. As the route is not overly long, you have plenty of time to explore the fascinating old zinc and lead mines - mineshafts with their original equipment, former factories and workers’villages, all set amid lush holm and cork-oak woods, nowadays home to a colony of Sardinian deer.
To learn more about mining and the wealth it brought to the island, visit the museum in Montevecchio.

DAY 4
Circuit starts with a transfer then leads through broom for the short but steep ascent through basalt walls to the legendary mountain of Hercules, Monte Arcuentu, a dormant volcano that boasts unrivalled views from its summit over western Sardinia.
You descend gradually across pastureland.
By walk: approx 10 km (4hrs).

DAY 5
This easy circuit crosses gently rolling countryside, it is possible to make for Portu Maga beach an Piscianas dunes. Accommodation in the ancient mining building of Residence Scioppadroxiu.
By walk: approx 17.5 km (5hrs).

DAY 6
You are free to explore the UNESCO-protected Piscinas dune range, one of the biggest in Europe that stretches for several kilometres along the Costa Verde. Coated in juniper and Mediterranean scrub, the dunes reach heights of up to 50 metres in places. It is not uncommon to spot Sardinian deer as you walk.

DAY 7
Our services end after breakfast.
Along the way, if you have bought our transfer don't forget to visit the old village of Ingurtosu,  passing buildings of great artistic industrial.
